Not to be unkind certainly, because we
rather liked the guy, but Ryan Shoulders of Survivor 7 Pearl Islands
just plain wasn't up to conquering the
challenge of television's most famous
reality show. His challenge
performances were lacking to say the least,
and his tribemates doubted his endurance
from early on.
Ryan was the second castaway to leave Panama, which if
nothing else spared us the spectacle of
watching an already lean & lanky Ryan grow
ever leaner & lankier, and spared us the
continuing confusion of watching two Ryans
running around in the same tribe, a
Survivor first.
But it also demonstrated that you just never know for
sure until it happens who will show up ready
to tie on a bandana and compete like a
house-afire ~ and who won't. Every
version of Survivor brings with it a
weeding out process, as the new castaways
come to grips with their environment, their
bodies, and each other. It's
impossible to predict which of them, like
cream, will rise to the top. Ryan
walked the plank. . .and sank like an
anchor.
