Daniel Lue was the second male ousted
during Survivor 6 The Amazon, and
like Ryan Aiken before him fell victim to a
premature power play. But also like
Ryan before him, Dan's ouster probably had
its roots in the very first immunity
challenge, when an inability to balance
himself on a log cost his tribe a victory.
But Daniel's claim to Survivor fame was having
been the first Asian-American male
contestant selected to compete, and only the
second Asian-American after Survivor
Thailand's Shii Ann Huang.
Interestingly enough, neither managed to fit
into their tribes especially well, a dynamic
that's both interesting and fodder for
sociologists to explore.
When all is said and done though, six versions now into
Survivor one thing is clear:
that in order to survive you have to
go-along to get-along, even if it means
saluting and swallowing a bit of pride now &
again. As for Dan ~ perhaps to his
credit if not his wallet ~ he wasn't about
to salute or take orders from anybody!
