As Survivor 6 The Amazon played out
week-by-week in the living rooms of America,
viewers near & far were dazzled with
surprise ouster after surprise ouster ~ and
unfortunately for Alex Bell perhaps no
ouster came as a bigger surprise than his.
He had spent the first 30 days in the jungle
jockeying for position, and just when his
proverbial ship was about to come in ~ just
as it was coming into view on the horizon ~
it sank suddenly and Alex was gone before
the sun rose on day 31. Like fellow
castaway Deena Bennett before him, his
presumptuousness cost him, perhaps cost him
the game.
From early on we heard the rumblings of Survivor
fans insisting that Alex had all the makings
of becoming the next Ethan Zohn, the
soccer-player-niceguy who parlayed his
niceguyness into a million bucks during
Survivor 3 Africa. Except that. .
.
we knew Ethan Zohn, Ethan Zohn was a friend
of ours, and Alex, you're no Ethan Zohn!
